Julley is a greeting. That’s how the Buddhist monks and common folk in these regions address you when you first meet them. Their smiles are infectious and stay with you long after you have returned to the daily hustle. In these eight days of riding through some of the most beautiful landscape in western Himalayas, we visit many unique places which offer varied experiences culturally and test your riding skills at the same time.

What sets this tour apart from the usual Manali – Leh excusion is that we take a different route, include more places of interest and offer more sights in the same time frame. The itinerary for Julley Ladakh tour is designed to maximize the adventure in the stipulated time. The highlight of this 8 day adventure are the three beautiful lakes that we visit, Chandertal, Tso Kar and Tsomoriri (the highest sweet water lake in the world). Not only the lakes but we also visit the mecca of all riders, the Mighty Khardungla Pass (the highest motorable pass in the world)

The Daily Riding plan is as follows:

DAY 1: Manali

The day begins with a meet and greet session with the team and the Tour captain sets the expectations with the group. We take you out for a ride around town so that you can get acquainted with the bikes you ride and at the same time visit few beautiful spots in manali.

DAY 2: Manali to Chandertaal

The ride begins in earnest as we ride to rohtang pass, the main tourist attraction of Manali. Rohtang is 51 kms from Manali and we take a short halt at the pass to enjoy the scenery and make merry with the people around. The road leading upto and about 5kms further from Rohtang is very good and doesn’t take a toll on the rider. Its when we turn to spiti valley from Gramphu, on our way to Chandertal that some serious water crossings and offroad riding happens. We reach Chandertal by late afternoon and spend the night at a campsite near the lake.

DAY 3: Chandertal to Keylong

The 125km ride can very easily be broken into two halves, the ride from Chandertal to Khoksar is a proper off road ride and the one between Khoksar and keylong is far easier on mostly tarmac road. Enroute Keylong, the road winds through beautiful green valley and We also stop for fueling at Tandi which is the last petrol pump till leh.  Overnight at a hotel in Keylong

DAY 4: Keylong to Sarchu

Back to the traditional Manali Leh Highway, on this day we travel from Keylong to Sarchu. The Road is good for most part and the highlight of the day is Baralacha Pass. It’s a pass that basically defines how long the road remains open and there are many beautiful mini lakes around the pass like Deepak tal and Suraj Tal. Sarchu, where we halt for the night is basically a vast ground at an elevation of 15500 ft. It offers great spots for those who love to click some landscape pictures but also poses a challenge with its high altitude. A good night sleep is essential.  Overnight in Camp.

Day 5: Sarchu to Tsokar

This is the stretch of the tour that tests our physical fitness as three back to back nights in Sarchu, Tsokar and tso moriri, all high altitude options, with camping for the night could test the best of us, but the reward is just as amazing. After a 140km ride through roads less travelled, we halt for the night by the lovely Tso kar Lake. Overnight in camp.

Day 6: Tso Kar to Tsomoriri

After an early start to the day mainly to capture the stunning views of the Tsokar lake, we ride towards the highest sweet water lake in the world, Tso moriri. We take the Tsokar- Puga – Sumdo route and ensure that we cover the 120 odd kms at ease. There are many places that deserve a halt at for photography and we ensure that none of the places are left out. Overnight in Camp

Day 7: Tso moriri to Leh

This is the day with a good long ride ahead so we start early from Korzok. The 240 kms take a good 7-8 hours of riding and the road is a mixture of both tarmac and lose dirt. We aim at getting to Leh by early evening and have some time to relax once we get to the town. The evening is at your leisure and we encourage to to take a stroll to local market and see the flavors of Leh city

Day 8: Khardungla- Leh

Our last day of ride and we ride to the highest motorable pass in the world. The distance is a short 40kms and the road conditions are perfect tarmac for most part.

After spending some time at the Ktop we descend back to Leh town and visit the Leh Palace and shanti stupa. We finish the riding by early evening so you have some time to explore the city on your own and collect souvenirs. After dinner at the hotel, we check on the preparation to send you to the airport next morning and with that we wind up the tour, which we hope was an amazing ride for you.
