By Air :- If money is not an issuue for you, this is sure the fastest way to reach Kullu. Try to book your tickets well in advance as there are just 2 compnies flying to Kullu so the prices are extremely high ( from 5000Rs to 17,000Rs). The nearest airport is Bhuntar ( Kullu ) Airport ( Tel: 01902-265037), 50 km from Manali, 10 km from Kullu, about two hours away. Flying Distance is about 1 hour 10 minutes. Air India and Kingfisher airlines operate flights to Kullu from Delhi and Chandigarh. A good place to book flight will be www.Cleartrip.com. On the Site you can look for the Airfare calender and find the best deals of the month. From the airport the best option to go to Manali is by Pre Paid taxi which is easily available there and should cost you about 1200 – 1600 Rs. But if you are on a tight schedule, beware that flights get cancelled on this route a LOT. So always have a spare day. By Bus :- Manali is about 550 km from Delhi, the capital of India, and there are buses connecting the town with Delhi, Shimla, Dhramsala, Chandigarh. For service from Delhi to Manali, tickets and reservations can be made at the Inter State Bus Terminus , the Himachal Tourism office on Safdar Hashmi Marg near Mandi House in New Delhi, By local Travel Agents ( Last Resort ) or online at Redbus.in. The approximate travel time from Delhi to Manali is 14 hours (can take upto 20 hours sometimes due to broken roads or landslides) from Ambala to Manali is 10 hours, from Chandigarh to Manali is 8 hours and from Kulu to Manali is 1.5 to 2 hours. Volvo buses—which depart at around 5PM and reach at 09-10 AM next day are available from Delhi and is the best option in terms of comfort and value for money to reach Manali but you need to book these in advance. Only drawbacks is that there are no windows opening in the Volvo buses. Passangers are advised to carry some anti-vomiting medicines and avoid eating just before/after boarding the bus.
By Taxi :- Taxi's can be hired from all the major cities. From Delhi, taxi's can cost you anywhere between 8000-15000 Rs. From Chandigarh, it will cost you aroud 4500-7000 Rs. Before hiring a taxi, ensure that the driver has experience driving in hilly regions and does not have the habit of drinking alcohol. Also make sure the driver has done quite a few trips on this road and know the route well. Time taken would be around 10-13 Hours.
When you are in Manali you can take a Rickshaw up to Vashisht and look for Bike Rentals Manali Sign. It will be towards your right on your way to the Temple.
